Keep breathing, keep, keep breathing! This was the song that played in my head for this day and I dont know the reason why. (Pero, i just found out na mali pala ang lyrics na kinakanta ko the whole time: salamat kay ms. chan). The actual lyrics of the song is keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding. But i guess i'll have to stick to my own lyrics because it somehow portrays the realization I just had for this day. I slept around 2:30 am after i lost playing tong-its with gian and pretending to have liked the mcdo i ordered without ketchup (it sucked, really). Before got into my bed, i already know that i'll be having one hell of a friday. I woke up around 7:30 and exercised the usual morning rituals. For some reason (and I dunno what the reason was), I was really having a bad time. I easily get irritated by other people (seatmate, classmate, profs, random people/stranger, friends, tindera, etc.) myself, the toki/ikot jeep, the casaa (where i had lunch), etc. Thank God my bio lab class was cancelled (which, by the way is a very rare case in IB). While waiting for the photocopy of bio lec notes, i was having a chat with some of my bio buddies. We were talking about the usual med school dream that almost everyone in IB (and other UP studes as well) want. Instead of being encouraged by the talk we had, we found ourselves discouraged. I dont want to dwell on the details of our talk but it was an added discouragement for me. What more sa med school? Kaya naman, lalo akong na-badtrip. Mas na-IRITA ako sa mga bagay-bagay. I was cursing the whole time. I was not in the mood of attending the AP12 suroy-suroy meeting and the ABM GA. At dahil badtrip ako, di ako pumunta. POTEK. I dont want to picture myself here as a "good" person because i am NOT. I dont want to picture myself here as a religious man because i am NOT, really. After the service, andami kong na-realize. Life is short. And i'm pretty sure wala pa naman ata. I also realized that i was a very shortsighted person. napaka-superficial ko. whatever. now, im trying to see things in the light of eternity. yung tipong may lasting effect ba itong ginagawa ko? Slowly, everything around me ay parang gumaan. yess. After the service, i decided to go to the library to finish my chem RDR. I brought books with me, i also found out na nawala pala ang kem lab book ko. wala rin pala akong data. pero, di na ako nainis at nagmura. parang, easy lang ako. Kaya, i decided to make to blog entry in the library. maganda ang ganitong pakiramdam. pramis. Even though i am faced with the reality that next week, i'll have four exams plus an RDR... parang di na ako maxadong nagrereklamo. ano ba ang magagawa ng reklamo ko? but you see, di rin ako naging sobrang care-free person. siyempre, there's still that drive sa akin to do my best (kaya nga nasa lib ako ngayon eh). Masarap ang ganitong pakiramdam. Sabi nga ni Colbie Caliat (2008): take time to realize. If you find yourself in a bad day, or caught in a web of problems... try to stop, take time to realize and you'll see things in an illogical manner. Problems turn to oppurtunites... the dark turns into light, death becomes life, coffee becomes milk (okay, whatever na).

The picture above inspired me (sorry kung whatever sya, pero para sa akin sobrang natuwa ako). My aunt send me this one in my e-mail and i just saw it a while ago and I wanted to share it with everyone. Anyway, gusto ko lang sabihin na there's more to life that everyone of us just dont seem to know. Andyan lang yan. Try to see it.

"Are you from Jamaica? shit! you're jamakin' me crazy" (mas maganda kung sasabihin siya ng actual)

banana/saging ang title nito kasi may ilalagay ako ng article about sa saging. lately kasi, saging ang kinakain ko before mag-exams. Nabasa ko itong article na 'to kaya natuwa naman ako kasi useful talaga ang saging sa ating mg buhay (thak you lord for giving us this fruit!)

(ilalagay ko ang article without any citations and all, kakapagod. sige, expelled na ako from UP) COPYRIGHT! (whatever)

A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class
about bananas. He said the expression 'going bananas' is
from the effects of bananas on the brain. Read on:

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator !!!

This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a
banana in the same way again. Bananas contain three
natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose
combined with fiber.

A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy
for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the
number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also
help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and
conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND
amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better
after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain
tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts
into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve
your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains
regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of
hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in
potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood
pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug
Administration has just allowed the banana
industry to make official claims for the
fruit's ability to reduce the risk of
blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school
(England) were helped through their exams this year by eating
bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost
their brain power. Research has shown that the
potassium-packed fruit can assist learning
by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help
restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem
without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to
make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana
calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up
depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and
re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body,
so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana
for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps
to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try
rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many
people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling
and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the
nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in
Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like
chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients,
researchers found the most obese were more likely to
be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that,
to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to
control our blood sugar levels by snacking on
high carbohydrate foods every two hours
to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal
disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the
only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in
over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes
over-acidity and reduces irritation by
coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a
'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional
temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for
example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure
their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help
SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood
enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying
to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the
potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body
recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the
heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's
water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate
rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These
can be rebalanced with the help of a
high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of
Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the
risk of death by strokes by as much as 40 percent.

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want
to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the
wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place
with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare
it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate,
three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and
twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium
and is one of the best value foods around. So maybe its time to
change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A banana a
day keeps the doctor away!'

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time!

I will add one more here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take
the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe ..
polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit !!!

Eto:

May 24, 2008

University of the Philippines
Office of the Student Housing
Diliman, Quezon City

Dear Sir/Madame:

Good day!

I am Christian James A. Nazareth, an incoming sophomore taking up BS Biology in UP Diliman. I have sent my application for a dormitory slot at Yakal Residence Hall. I come all the way from General Santos City, South Cotabato. With this remark, it is my dire need and desire to be able to secure a slot in a UP Dorm (particularly in Yakal). I would like to inquire regarding my application status so that I will know what to would do when I arrive at UP diliman before enrollment. I do not have any relatives in Manila and neither do I have any other place to stay except in a UP Dormitory.

Thank you very much for your kind consideration. God bless!

Sincerely,
Christian James A. Nazareth

Pero kanina, after kong magpa-dentist, binuksan ko ang yahoomail ko at boom! nagreply! in the person of someone named MR MARQUINA. Eto ang reply:

Mr Nazareth,

We know you are from a far place and I presume you submitted your
application form after April 14 deadline so you're late.
Late applicants will be deliberated after May 30 and you have a
slim chance of being accepted in the dorm. May we advise you that
if you dont have a place to stay with, we have list of boarding
houses that are available for you to choose from. Also, you
can ask for a reconsideration as transient while you are looking for a place to stay before the start of the semester. Address your
letter to Dr. Ruby G. Alcantara, OIC-Office of Student Housing,
UP Diliman.

Mr Marquina

forms na yun... kung na-late man, kasalanan ng LBC. in that case, LBC

1. Ano ang student number mo? Gusto mo ba ito?
*2007-16452. Kung titingnan, nothing special naman sa tudent no. ko. gusto ko sana 2007-00002 or 2007-7777 or yung something na cool tingnan. pero, eventually, nagustuhan ko na yung student number ko. di ko na siya malilimutan for the rest of my life. one six four five two! special na siya para sa akin. yesss.

*B.A. Comparative literature- hindi ko alam ang ginagawa ng mga tao sa course na to. from the course title, i think kinocompare nila yung mga literature? haha. basta, siguro yung mga different styles in writing, writers, etc. pero i think cool naman tong course na to eh pero kelangan ng a lot of reading skills. haggard.

*B.S. Family Life and Child Development - OK. i havent met anyone from UPD na may course nito pero meron naman cguro. uhm, clueless ako sa pinaggagawa nila. cguro, they learn about family life and how to develop them. haha. ewan. pero, sa name pa lang masasabi kong mababait ang mga tao sa course na to. ewan. haha

*B. S. Social Work- siguro naman mahilig ang mga tao dito sa social work. i do admire these people. i mean, social work talagang kinareer. saludo ako sa inyu. :)

5. Nakakita ka na ba ng nagpi-PDA? Sa AS? As in sa AS Entrance? In Broad Daylight? In front of many people? Ikaw ba yung gumagawa nun?
*oo naman. in broad daylight. yes, in front of many people. may mga lesbians nga eh nakita kong sobrang torrid ng kissing. pero, ok lang. bahala sila. buhay naman nial yun. natatawa nga ako eh, yung mga tao kunwaring hindi napapansin ang mga nagpi-PDA pero pagdadaan yung mga mata..toinks! klarong-klaro nakatitig. haha.

(offtopic)

8. Within the UP Campus, ano na ang pinakamalayo mong nalakad?
*uhm, within lang? kasi nakatry na akong maglakad papauntang mcdo katipunan at 4 am! haha. lasing pa kami nun. tas naglakad na din ako (palagi) from kalai to commonwealth. kung wihtin, cguro from sarah's to kalai. yun na cguro yung pinakamalayo within upd.

9. Meal? [Geog1 + Comm3]

13. Ilang individual libraries na ang napuntahan mo within Up Diliman? Isa-isahin.
*uhm. individual lib? Main lib syempre. CS lib. CAL lib. MassComm lib. Econ lib. ano pa ba? Engg lib pa pala. NIGS lib. yun lang ata.

At naki-sit in sa klase niyo?

21. May College Shirt ka ba? Anu design?
*wala. haha. never ako nag-order nung CS shirt at bio shirt. sa tingin ko hindi worth it, kasi, yung sa Cs shirt nakalagay ARE YOU thinking? tas may picture ng brain tas yung bio shirt, maganda naman, pero di ko gusto. actuali, wala lang talaga akong pera. haha.

22. Naranasan mo na bang mag 1vs100 sa CRS?
*siyempre! 1 vs 500 pa. normla lang yan. lalong-lalo na sa PE at GE. abusado kasi ang mga tao eh. pede namang one PE lang ieenlist or yung tmang Ge units lang. or basta yung tama lang.

23. Naglalaro ka ba ng Guess the Course/Spot that Freshie kapag wala kang magawa habang tumatambay sa AS?

28. May bura ka na ba sa Form 5 mo? Anu yon?
*oo naman. yung nagkamali ako one time sa class codes ata. basta yung may mali ako (siyempre, may bura ba kung walang mali?) hehe.
